GOODBYE WEEKEND

Although technically it's only been one month since summer has officially ended, it feels as if a lifetime has passed since we were sipping cold beers on hot, sweltering days without realising whether it was a weekday or weekend. In fact, summer of 2015 to me could be summed up in the word 'weekend' with endless nights and shortened days, well on the days I wasn't working at least. So with that in mind, and as with the backlog of procrastinated blog posts, I'm throwing it way back to August, where my sisters and I went to our second motherland of Malaysia. Being half Malaysian, summers were always a time for me and my sisters to visit our family over there and whilst none of us have actually 'lived' in Malaysia, its remains to be a home away from home for all of us. As our tendency is to stay with my grandparents in Malaysia, my family decided to do something different, and for a brief weekend, we checked into a hotel and embraced the 'hotel experience'. Here below are some photos I took of my sisters during our stay. Staying there put us all in a different state of mind and was such a departure from our everyday lives. So here's an ode to lounging pool side, losing track of time and of course, jumping on ready made beds.

WINTER WONDERLAND

Christmas is without a doubt, my favourite holiday. There's just something about the smell of freshly cut christmas trees and endless nights sipping hot chocolate that just appeals so much to me. Of course, there's the much needed uni break, but that transcends seasons. Speaking of uni, first term has finally ended, our long but incredible White Show is over and in my rare period of rest, I climbed out of the comforts of my bed into the bewildering chills of the outside. As Nicole and I finally ventured to Winter Wonderland, on a Sunday (also my last full day here until next year), no less. Despite the insanely priced rides (£10 for a 5 second ride!), freezing temperatures (7ยบ C? Lies!) and the lack of debit card accepting food stalls , it was everything that a commercialised, money-sucking theme park could be. There were crying children, haunted mansions (a bit off season don't you think?), hot chocolate stations and none other than, Santa land. One thing for sure, nobody does christmas better than London. The spirit is strong with this one.

Also, to anyone who's heading to winter wonderland, please note that IF you wear white shoes, they will not come back white. I repeat, they will not come back white.

PARIS IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA

Photography by me on my DSLR and Iphone 5s

Fact. Paris is always a good idea. Despite the frequent weather warnings and threats of impending wallet thieves, my sister and I ventured on a glorious trip to Paris and confirmed that Paris is indeed, always a good idea. We stayed there for a couple of days with some family friends who were kind enough to house us and show us around Paris. During our brief time there, we managed to check a few things off our 'to-do' list including visiting le Lourve, dining at Cafe de doux Moulins a la Amelie, shopping at colette and consuming as many macarons as possible. Contrary to the large amount of jpegs, this is only a tiny snippet of our holiday and being back in the 852 has diagnosed me with severe post-paris depression. Until next time, Pariee!
